The production of Cygnet Gin, a premium gin founded by classical singer Katherine Jenkins and filmmaker Andrew Levitas, will now take place at the Penderyn Copperworks Distillery, situated at the historic original copperworks site.

In commenting on this strategic move, Penderyn Distillery chief executive Stephen Davies stated: “We are absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Katherine and Andrew on this exciting venture. Cygnet Gin is a truly remarkable product, and we’re honoured to welcome them into the Penderyn distillery.

“Katherine’s passion for quality, innovation, and her love for Wales aligns perfectly with our own values. This collaboration is a natural fit for Penderyn, and we look forward to opening the distillery doors to fans of this exceptional brand.”

Visitor Centre

The Penderyn site will also host tours, tastings, and master classes centered around the Cygnet brand. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the historical significance of the site, access the distillery hall featuring the copper Faraday stills, visit the cask warehouse, and enjoy the tasting bar.

Jenkins added: “Cygnet embodies the essence of my homeland – it’s incredible natural beauty, the warmth and passion of our people, and the unparalleled care with which we make our products – and as such, the only home I could imagine for it is the Historical Copperworks Distillery, with our friends at Penderyn.”

This relocation to Penderyn Distillery follows last month’s announcement that former Campari Group chief executive Matteo Fantacchiotti would join the Welsh gin brand as its partner and chairman.

Fantacchiotti brings over 25 years of expertise in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, having held leadership roles at Nestlé Waters, Diageo, and Carlsberg Group.

Bringing Attention to Wales

Levitas concluded: “This partnership represents the absolute best in luxury craft spirits and will hopefully bring further attention to Wales and the fusion of artistic expression, heritage, and innovation blossoming all around us.

“As the voice of luxury gin, Cygnet is positioned to pioneer a new frontier for the category, and Penderyn is the ideal new home for us and our sixth-generation master distilling team. We look forward to welcoming visitors to our new home.”

In the same vein, Scotch whisky manufacturer Gordon & MacPhail has commenced construction of a £3.5m warehouse at its Benromach distillery in Forres, further highlighting the region’s commitment to advancing its heritage in premium beverages.
