Global snack producer Calbee has made a significant investment in its Deeside plant, focusing on new frying, seasoning, and distribution machinery. This substantial upgrade includes the installation of advanced frying technology, such as an indirect heating system, provided by industry specialists, Fabcon Food Systems.
The new equipment at Calbee’s Deeside plant allows for the production of fried snacks from pellets or extruded products. Additionally, the existing seasoning and distribution system has been extended and enhanced to accommodate the new line. This expansion also involved the addition of platform extensions to support the new conveyors designed by Fabcon.
Calbee and Fabcon Food Systems have a longstanding and productive relationship, with the two companies collaborating closely on expanding Calbee’s operations. Daniel Woodwards, managing director of Calbee UK, emphasized the value of Fabcon’s collaborative approach, praising their ability to deliver optimal outcomes through turnkey solutions and onsite consultation.
In response, Trevor Howard, managing director of Fabcon Food Systems, expressed satisfaction with the installation at Calbee’s Deeside plant. He emphasized that the new equipment provides Calbee with greater flexibility and the ability to maintain the high quality of their snacks and production.
The ongoing partnership between the two companies is expected to continue, with both Woodwards and Howard expressing optimism about future collaboration on expansion projects.
