Ash Amirahmadi, currently the managing director of Arla UK, is set to become the new chief executive of Sofina Foods Europe from 8 August 2023, replacing Michael Latifi. Sofina Foods Inc’s founder, chairman, and CEO will retain these roles. Amirahmadi is a prominent figure in the UK’s food and farming sectors, currently serving as chair of the boards for both Dairy UK and the IGD. Sofina Foods Europe is one of Europe’s biggest manufacturers of primary and further processed protein products for retail and foodservice customers. The company includes the Karro, Young’s Seafood, and Greenland Seafood subsidiaries and operates across the UK, Ireland, France, and Germany.

Latifi expressed his delight with Amirahmadi’s appointment, stating that his “deep experience and reputation within the grocery and farming sectors” would help Sofina Foods Europe achieve success in Europe’s food industry. He added that Amirahmadi would play a vital role in establishing a more sustainable supply chain capable of producing high-quality and affordable products that would impress consumers.

Amirahmadi welcomed the opportunity to lead Sofina Foods Europe and praised the company’s commitment to social responsibility, adding that he would work together with the Sofina family to transform the food system. He recognised the significant challenges in the global market and promised to adopt a humble approach to navigate the complex industry.

Lastly, Diageo has expedited the appointment of its first female CEO following a delay due to Sir Ivan Menezes’ hospitalisation.
