As part of a broader recruitment initiative, the John Lewis Partnership is advertising a total of 13,700 seasonal roles, aiming to bolster its workforce during the peak holiday season.
Out of these positions, 8,500 are specifically within Waitrose, while the remaining 2,000 are allocated to distribution centres and the firm’s extensive supply chain network.
This recruitment drive is strategically designed to enhance the retailer’s capabilities for the ‘golden quarter.’ This critical period begins with “the launch of new seasonal ranges and the build-up to Black Friday in November, before moving into Christmas and John Lewis’ famous January Winter Sale.”
During this season, Waitrose experiences its highest volume of business, both in-store and online.
Successful candidates can expect a “competitive salary”, comprehensive training, and flexible, blended working options to meet their diverse needs.
In discussing the new opportunities, Chief People Officer Jo Rackham stated, “We’ve invested heavily to set ourselves up for a great golden quarter, but our excellent service also relies on having brilliant Partners on hand, whenever and wherever our customers need them.”
“Whether helping our customers find the perfect gift for a loved one, or the show-stopper for their Christmas lunch, our seasonal teams play a huge role in spreading the festive magic. They’re rewarding roles, at one of the most exciting times of year to work in retail.”
This announcement follows the recent appointment of Tom Denyard as the new managing director for Waitrose.
Denyard will succeed James Bailey, who is set to leave the business at the end of September 2025.
