Sargento Foods, a US-based cheese manufacturer, has announced its intention to acquire La Terra Fina, a producer of dips and quiches located in the same country.

Details regarding the financial aspects of the agreement have not been disclosed.

In an official statement, the family-owned Sargento highlighted that this acquisition will enable it to penetrate deli sections in grocery stores across the United States.

The completion of the deal is anticipated by the end of September.

Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Union City, California, La Terra Fina has been privately affiliated with Catamount Management Corporation since 2015.

Its offerings consist of ready-to-eat chilled dips, spreads, quiches, and salads.

The company operates a manufacturing facility near San Francisco and employs around 250 staff members.

La Terra Fina’s products are available in club stores and supermarkets throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico.

“This venture reflects the strength of what we’ve built and puts La Terra Fina in a great position for accelerated growth. And what’s even better is that our cultures are genuinely aligned,” remarked Stephen Cottrell, the president and CEO of La Terra Fina.

Sargento, established in 1953 in Plymouth, Wisconsin, produces a variety of cheese products, including shredded, sliced, and snack options, along with various ingredients. The company has a workforce exceeding 2,500 individuals.

In 2025, Sargento reported net sales totaling $1.7 billion.

Louie Gentine, the third-generation chairman and CEO of Sargento, stated, “For more than 70 years, our commitment to innovation has driven our success that we share with our employees, customers, suppliers, and community. We will continue this legacy by growing the La Terra Fina brand and welcoming new members of the Sargento family.”
