Pilgrim’s Europe has announced the appointment of Matt Lee as its new chief business and growth officer, strengthening its senior leadership team as the company continues to expand its commercial focus.

Lee will take up the newly created role in July 2026, where he will be responsible for leading the group’s commercial strategy, including retail, brand development, insights and innovation across the UK and Ireland.

He joins Pilgrim’s Europe from Hilton Food Group, where he most recently served as CEO for the UK and Ireland. During his six-year tenure — including nearly four years as chief executive — he led a series of transformation initiatives and long-term growth programmes.

Lee’s broader experience includes senior roles at Symington’s and within Associated British Foods, including British Sugar. He is also currently a trustee of IGD.

Pilgrim’s Europe said the appointment represents a key step in its ongoing development, aimed at strengthening its commercial capabilities and supporting growth across its core markets.

Commenting on his new role, Lee said: “I’m delighted to be joining Pilgrim’s at such a pivotal moment. Following its successful integration, it is a business with strong momentum, a clear vision, and an outstanding team.

“I look forward to partnering with colleagues across the organisation to build on this foundation – driving innovation, delivering value for customers, and unlocking new opportunities for long term growth.”

Ivan Siqueira, president of Pilgrim’s Europe, added: “Matt’s broad international background, strategic mindset, and passion for growth make him an exceptional addition to our leadership team.

“His experience across retail, brands, and commercial strategy will be instrumental as we continue to evolve, innovate, and deliver for our customers. I very much look forward to working with him.”
