Orsero, an Italian supplier in the fruit and vegetable sector, is making strides in the U.S. market through its investment in the import enterprise Trucco.

As disclosed in a stock market filing, the Milan-based company has obtained a 45% interest in Trucco Holdings, which operates Trucco Inc. and TruFresh Logistics, both located in New Jersey.

Furthermore, Orsero holds an option to secure an additional 15% in Trucco Holdings starting from 2029.

In addition, a deal has been established for the acquisition of 46% of AJ Trucco Inc., an associated entity, pending required regulatory approvals. This transaction is projected to finalize before year’s end.

The agreed-upon total for these investments stands at $46 million, with the arrangement structured on a “debt-free / cash-free” basis, as noted in the filing.

The Trucco Group comprises three operational entities: AJ Trucco Inc., Trucco Inc., and TruFresh Logistics LLC, with the latter two under the management of Trucco Holdings Inc.

AJ Trucco Inc. focuses on promoting fresh produce to retailers via a sales point situated in the Hunts Point Produce Market in the Bronx.

Trucco Inc., based in Vineland, New Jersey, operates out of a substantial 18,000-square-meter warehouse.

TruFresh provides processing, packaging, and logistics services to both Trucco and third-party clients, also based within the Vineland facility.

Following this investment, Orsero’s vice-chair and CEO Raffaella Orsero along with co-CEO Matteo Colombini will join the Trucco board immediately.

In a shared statement, Raffaella Orsero and Colombini characterized this move as a “transformative milestone” and emphasized that it will significantly contribute to their growth strategy. They remarked, “This strategic step will allow the group to achieve a new scale, giving us a global perspective and exposure to a unique market in terms of purchasing power and consumer trends.”

Orsero has established a presence across Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Colombia, functioning both as a producer and distributor of various fruits and vegetables, including bananas, pineapples, apples, melons, and pears.

Nick Pacia, the owner and CEO of Trucco Holdings, will maintain his majority share and continue in his roles as chairman and chief executive for a minimum of six years.

“Together, Trucco and Orsero can further our shared commitment to delivering top-quality produce through seamless procurement and distribution networks,” stated Pacia.

The company specializes in the importation and marketing of a variety of fresh commodities, such as kiwifruit, blueberries, citrus fruits, garlic, and dried fruits.

Trucco operates under three brands—KiwiStar, TruStar, and Fresco—and last year generated approximately $250 million in revenues.

In 2025, Orsero reported net sales of €1.7 billion ($1.9 billion), reflecting an increase of 8.2% compared to the previous year. The company’s adjusted EBITDA rose by 3.8% year-on-year to €86.9 million, while adjusted net profits climbed 4.7% to €33 million.
