In collaboration with Kite Consulting and 40 farms across the UK, the new three-year initiative will employ advanced methods to monitor key metrics related to production efficiency and sustainability. This approach will significantly enhance decision-making, enabling swift actions to meet emission reduction ambitions.

The Fast Track initiative is an integral part of Müller’s Sustainability Action Plan, which aims to reduce on-farm emissions by 30% by 2030.

Through this program, participating farmers will access real-time data, allowing them for more timely and frequent monitoring of crucial KPIs. This advancement moves beyond the limitations of traditional annual reporting based on previous year’s data.

Automated Systems

The program intends to harness automated data integration from various sources, including Feedlync, a cloud-based feed management system. This integration will focus on four essential areas: feed efficiency, fertility, livestock numbers, and energy-corrected milk.

Rob Hutchison, chief executive of Müller Milk & Ingredients, emphasized that the Fast Track program offers a vital opportunity to substantially contribute to the dairy firm’s 30% emission reduction goal.

“By supporting farmers to adopt an integrated, data-driven approach, we can empower them to take swift and responsive actions to address challenges as they emerge, thus reducing reliance on outdated historical data for decision-making,” Hutchison explained.

“Our customers and consumers expect us to drive change, which is why we are thrilled to partner with Kite Consulting on this pioneering program. We anticipate the growth and ongoing success of Fast Track in the coming years.”

Data-Driven Changes

David Craven, dairy manager at Grosvenor Farms, noted that participating in the Fast Track program would enable farmers to identify data-driven improvements and focus on key indicators that significantly impact long-term farm resilience and sustainability.

Rose Jackson, a senior dairy consultant at Kite Consulting, stated: “With the growing use of technology on dairy farms, we are generating more data, but how can we effectively utilize this to make informed, science-based decisions that will accelerate carbon emissions reductions?

“Fast Track seeks to address this challenge by analyzing relevant KPIs and fostering collaboration among 40 innovative and efficient farmers. Initiatives like this play a crucial role in our journey toward carbon reduction and underscore the commitment of UK dairy farmers to reduce their carbon footprints.”
