Tim Mooney will assume the position of UK & Ireland General Manager on February 2, bringing over 25 years of expertise in the food and drink sector across both UK and global consumer packaged goods (CPG) and retail. His extensive career encompasses leadership roles at Sainsbury’s, Safeway, Danone, and GSK.
Since joining Mars Inc’s Global Customer Team in 2020, Mooney has spearheaded initiatives in global customer and category partnerships, significantly driving growth and collaboration within the Mars business. This experience positions him well to navigate ongoing food and beverage industry trends, particularly as they relate to food distribution trends and food processing technology.
In his new role, Mooney will report directly to Hans Bakker, the Regional General Manager for Mars Food & Nutrition in Europe. Bakker stated, “It is with great excitement that we welcome Tim to lead the Mars Food & Nutrition team in UK & Ireland. His extensive industry experience and strategic vision will be instrumental in driving the performance of our iconic brands to deliver category value through mutual and sustainable growth.”
Mooney now steps into this role during an important time for the business, as it continues to bolster its leading brands like Ben’s Original and Dolmio. This includes a focus on an innovation agenda that features a new and rapidly expanding ambient ready meals range, aligning with food and drink marketing strategies aimed at meeting evolving food and drink consumer trends.
“I am delighted to take on this role and look forward to working with our partners across the UK & Ireland to co-create value for our customers, consumers, and the category,” Mooney added. He recognizes that “Food & Nutrition is one of the most innovative parts of the Mars business with iconic household brands, and I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity to build on the team’s success.”
Mooney succeeds Nick Reade, who is departing Mars after a decade of dedicated service. This transition occurs amid increasing emphasis on food and drink sustainability and evolving food and drink regulations, both critical to ongoing success in the sector.
