Nestlé, a prominent player in the food and beverage industry, is set to acquire a majority stake in Brazil’s premium chocolate company, Grupo CRM. This strategic move will allow Nestlé to strengthen its confectionery presence in Brazil and enter the high-end segment of the market. Renata Moraes Vichi, the CEO of Grupo CRM, will continue to lead the operations and remain a minority shareholder, bringing her extensive experience and passion for the chocolate business to the table.

Through this acquisition, Nestlé aims to capitalize on the success of Kopenhagen and Brasil Cacau, two beloved chocolate brands in Brazil known for their premium quality and exceptional taste. Kopenhagen, established in 1928, has continuously evolved and gained popularity with iconic brands like Língua de Gato, Nhá Benta, Lajotinha, Chumbinho, and Cherry Brand. Brasil Cacau, launched in 2009, has also made a significant impact and can be found in hundreds of dedicated stores throughout Brazil.

With its strong presence in the confectionery market in Brazil, Nestlé is confident that this partnership will help it to grow further in the high-end gifting segment. Leveraging its global research and development capacity, Nestlé plans to drive innovation and foster growth in the premium chocolate experience offered by Grupo CRM. Additionally, Nestlé is committed to supporting Grupo CRM’s sustainability aspirations.

The transaction is expected to be completed in 2024, pending customary regulatory approvals. While the financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, both Nestlé and Grupo CRM express their excitement about this strategic collaboration and are confident that it will be mutually beneficial.

Nestlé’s acquisition of Grupo CRM’s majority stake marks a significant step in expanding its confectionery presence in Brazil’s premium chocolate market. By combining their expertise, resources, and passion for the industry, Nestlé and Grupo CRM aim to deliver an enhanced and sustainable premium chocolate experience to Brazilian consumers.
