Lynas Foodservice, a family-owned wholesaler operating in Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Scotland, stands as a notable player in the food and beverage industry. As a third-generation organization, it employs over 600 staff and caters to more than 5,000 customers, reinforcing its position within the evolving landscape of food distribution trends.

The recent acquisition signifies a pivotal advancement in Lynas Foodservice’s long-term growth strategy focused on Scotland. This partnership will enhance delivery infrastructure, broaden product ranges, and improve availability for caterers, aligning with current food manufacturing trends.

JB Foods will retain its brand identity under Lynas Foodservice, with its leadership—managing director Lee Brown and commercial director Charlotte Brown—continuing in their roles. This leadership stability is essential in maintaining customer trust within the competitive food and drink marketing landscape.

With over 60 years of experience, JB Foods is a family-run wholesale business that specializes in delivering a wide array of products, from unique ingredients to grocery essentials, dairy, frozen goods, and non-food items to restaurants and professional kitchens. This expertise complements evolving food processing technology.

“Lynas and JB Foods not only share a heritage as long-standing family-run businesses but also a customer-first ethos,” stated Andrew Lynas, managing director at Lynas Foodservice. “JB Foods is known for its focus on quality, Scottish provenance, and customer service—attributes that align closely with Lynas’ vision. Combining our efforts provides the scale, infrastructure, and Scottish warehousing capacity necessary for enhanced availability, broader choice, and superior service for caterers nationwide. This acquisition is a significant step in reinforcing our long-term commitment to Scotland and fostering future growth.”

Brown remarked: “We’re delighted to be joining Lynas and continuing to trade under our own brand. This transition enables us to enhance the range and service our customers expect while leveraging the scale, availability, and product variety that Lynas offers. It fortifies what we do today and allows us to maintain the personal, trusted service that our customers rely on.”

The connection between these two businesses is already strong, as both are members of the foodservice buying group Caterforce, which emphasizes food and drink sustainability.

“We are absolutely delighted that two of our family-run wholesale members, both champions in their regions with a shared vision for customer service excellence, have chosen to collaborate in a manner that honors the legacy of JB Foods while embracing Lynas’ ambitious future plans,” stated Gary Mullineux, managing director for Caterforce.
