The World Steak Challenge, organized by William Reed, is only four months away. This prestigious event will bring together the finest cuts of steak from across the globe, featuring categories such as Filet, Sirloin, Ribeye, and Wagyu. In September, the Vlees & Co. Steak Restaurant in Amsterdam will host an esteemed tasting panel made up of experts from all around the world, who will judge the entries.

If you are a beef or steak producer, wholesaler, or retailer, this is your chance to showcase your product’s quality and breed credentials on an international stage. Entries for the 2023 competition are currently open, and applicants have until June 10th to submit their applications.

More than 50 independent judges will assess each entry. The best performing steaks will receive gold, silver, or bronze medals. This year, all Gold medal-winning steaks automatically qualify for the competition’s international categories: the best steak will be announced from Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America. One producer will also claim the coveted overall title of The World’s Best Steak.

Last year, Japanese Wagyu from producer Starzen Co. was awarded the World’s Best Steak prize. The same cut also won the World’s Best Sirloin and World’s Best Grain-fed at the award ceremony in Dublin. This entry marked the first time a Japanese steak was submitted to the competition.

According to Restaurant editor Stefan Chomka, “The WSC is the ultimate competition for steak producers and suppliers to showcase their product quality and breed credentials on an international stage. The importance of taste, provenance, and sustainability in meat has never been more significant, and this competition highlights the best producers in the business and gives them a platform to tell the world about the quality of the steaks.”

In conclusion, we invite all steak aficionados to join us at the World Steak Challenge in Amsterdam this September. Whether you are a producer, wholesaler, or retailer, enter the competition now and seize this opportunity to prove that your steaks are among the best in the world.
