French Agri-Food Group Avril Appoints New CEO Shelf-stable Food and Beverage Business

Incoming Avril CEO Paul-Yves L’Anthoën

French agri-food group Avril has officially appointed Paul-Yves L’Anthoën as its next CEO, succeeding Jean-Philippe Puig. L’Anthoën is set to join the company on November 3 for a transition period before officially stepping into the role in March.

Puig has led Avril since 2012, steering the group while preserving its agricultural roots and unique model. Under his leadership, Avril has solidified its position within the food and beverage industry, focusing on consumer trends and market expansion. As Avril continues to evolve, the company aims to maintain its momentum in the food and drink business.

Avril’s consumer portfolio covers a wide range of products, including edible oils, condiments, and plant-based meals, marketed under well-known brands like Lesieur, Puget, and Costa d’Oro. The company’s operations extend beyond France, with a presence in Italy, Romania, Morocco, Algeria, Senegal, and Austria.

Arnaud Rousseau, chairman of Avril, expressed his best wishes to Puig as he embarks on a new chapter in 2026. He highlighted Puig’s significant contributions to building the group while maintaining its agricultural focus.

L’Anthoën, aged 55, brings extensive experience from the agricultural sector. He recently served as CEO of Axéréal in Orléans from October 2017 until September 2025, following a tenure at Terrena’s agricultural operations from December 2013 to October 2017. His previous experience includes seven years as managing director at Seveal & Agrihub within Groupe Vivescia and five years as branch manager for Sanders at Avril.

He began his international career in Montréal, managing markets for Groupe Roullier. L’Anthoën commented on his new position: “Avril is an extraordinary group, renowned for its unique global model and active role in driving transitions. Everyone can count on my full commitment to continuing the growth momentum initiated by my predecessor, Jean-Philippe Puig, whom I warmly congratulate as we look forward to the months of transition ahead.”

As the food and drink consumer trends continue to shift, Avril is poised to embrace the future under L’Anthoën’s leadership. The company aims to leverage industry insights to enhance its offerings and solidify its market position.
