The recent decision comes following the exit of co-owner and director Amanda Buitelaar, who sold her share in Extra Detail Ltd, the parent company of Dovecote Park, to ABP.
Buitelaar held a 25% interest in the North Yorkshire enterprise and dedicated 25 years of service to the organization before her departure in April.
The remaining directors and co-owners, chairman David Gunner and CEO Richard Canvin, will continue to manage Dovecote Park autonomously. In June, they welcomed Tom Kirwan, a director from ABP, onto the board.
Kirwan has been at the helm of ABP’s UK and Ireland operations for the past decade and became a board member for the group in 2020.
As reported by our sister publication The Grocer, the deal was finalized through the acquisition of Buitelaar’s holding company, Benoni Corporation.
ABP has not yet provided commentary on the purchase.
A representative from Dovecote Park remarked, “The acquisition of Benoni represents a long-term strategic investment for the ABP Group.”
They added, “Benoni, as a minority shareholder, will be supportive of the group’s strategic direction, whilst maintaining the policy of acknowledging the current board and management team’s independent ability and authority to grow and develop the Dovecote Park business.”
