St. Paul Cheese Maker Acquires Dutch Company Koninklijke ERU Dairy & Soy Food Food and Beverage Business

St. Paul, a cheese producer in the food and beverage industry, is set to acquire Dutch peer Koninklijke ERU. The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, pending approval from Dutch competition officials.

Headquartered in Sint Jansteen, Netherlands, St. Paul operates as a business-to-business cheese manufacturer with production facilities in both Netherlands and Belgium. On the other hand, Koninklijke ERU, based in Woerden, Netherlands, owns popular dairy brands such as Balans, Goudkuipje, and Prestige, specializing in spreadable and single-slice cheese.

Last year, both companies collaborated to acquire Kasi Food from Lekkerkerker Food Group, showcasing a successful partnership. Despite the acquisition, Koninklijke ERU will remain intact as a brand and organization, focusing on its current market positioning and possibly strengthening its presence.

Describing the acquisition as a significant milestone, St. Paul expressed its commitment to bolstering its market-leading position in the melted cheese market by merging with Koninklijke ERU. The alliance aims to offer a wide range of melted cheese preparations for consumers, out-of-home markets, and the food industry.

CEO of St. Paul, Dieter Kuijl, emphasized the company’s dedication to expanding its portfolio of high-quality melted cheese products. The goal is to cater to the diverse needs of consumers, foodservice sector, and the industry at large.

Echoing similar sentiments, Koninklijke ERU’s CEO, Maurits Sandberg, sees the deal as an opportunity to grow the business’s brands and explore new markets, indicating a positive outlook for the future.

This acquisition signifies a strategic move in the food and drink business landscape, aligning with industry trends towards diversification and expansion. The combined expertise of St. Paul and Koninklijke ERU sets the stage for a stronger presence in the competitive market, driving growth and innovation.
