Spain’s Grupo Gallo is set to launch a new range of broths in the United States through a collaboration with renowned chef José Andrés. This initiative aims to capture the growing interest in the food and beverage industry trends that emphasize authenticity and quality.

The broths, which consist of chicken, vegetable, and seafood varieties, will be manufactured in Spain and marketed under the José Andrés Foods brand. This partnership highlights the concept of ‘Real Food from Spain,’ appealing to consumers who prioritize quality ingredients in the food and drink business.

Distribution commenced with a debut at Kroger-owned Mariano’s stores in Chicago, and Grupo Gallo anticipates introducing these products to additional Kroger banners, including Harris Teeter, throughout the year. This rollout reflects a strategic move to cater to evolving food and drink consumer trends.

Described as a “premium” product line, these broths will be produced at the company’s facility in Granollers, Barcelona. According to a statement from Grupo Gallo, this project underscores their commitment to local production and Spanish culinary expertise, utilizing industrial capabilities to deliver authentic flavors on an international scale.

Moreover, Grupo Gallo employs the innovative ‘Olla Gallo’ cooking system, which replicates traditional broth preparation while ensuring the use of fresh ingredients and precise temperature controls. As Chef Andrés aptly stated, “These broths reflect our way of understanding cooking: real ingredients, honest processes, and authentic flavor.” His partnership with Grupo Gallo is crucial, ensuring high-quality products enter the US market.

It is noteworthy that the broth’s chicken content at 33% is touted as the highest in its category, while the seafood variant contains 20% shrimp and 5% sofrito, a traditional Spanish sauce. The vegetable broth boasts a medley of fresh ingredients, including onions, carrots, cabbage, spinach, leeks, and celery.

Although Grupo Gallo is primarily recognized for its dry pasta ranges, the company also produces various sauces, such as pesto, Bolognese, and carbonara. In 2020, the company expanded its portfolio by acquiring the Barcelona-based Asian ready-meals business Ta-Tung, previously trading as Pastas Gallo. The firm has since reverted to its original name, Grupo Gallo, after a partnership with local private-equity firm ProA Capital, which actively supports the business.
