Maestrani Schweizer Schokoladen has announced its acquisition of fellow Swiss chocolatier Chocolat Ammann for an undisclosed amount. This strategic move aligns with the company’s plan to secure the future of the Chocolat Ammann brand.
Founded by Theodor Ammann in 1949, Chocolat Ammann has a rich history of chocolate-making. As part of the acquisition, Maestrani—known for its offerings including Munz, Minor, and Avelines—will transition production to its facility in Flawil, located in eastern Switzerland.
However, this transition will lead to the loss of approximately 18 positions at Chocolat Ammann’s Heimberg plant. In response, Maestrani has committed to assisting the affected employees in finding new opportunities within the food and beverage industry.
The joint statement from both companies emphasized their shared values, including “quality, Swissness, and sustainability.” These principles make the Swiss quality products produced under the Chocolat Ammann brand an excellent addition to Maestrani’s portfolio.
This acquisition follows a successful revitalization of the Geneva praline brand Avelines in 2022. The food and drink business continues to evolve, and this merger illustrates the competitive nature of the sector.
