Italy’s DalterFood Group is strategically enhancing its cheese distribution in Europe with the acquisition of For Food France. This move aligns with its growth strategy aimed at effectively serving retail and foodservice clients in France.
DalterFood is already well-known for exporting Italian cheeses, including Parmigiano Reggiano and Grana Padano, to its European neighbors. The acquisition is a proactive step in response to evolving food and beverage industry trends, ensuring they remain competitive in the food and drink business landscape.
Although financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, it signifies a pivotal step for DalterFood. General Manager Andrea Guidi emphasized, “The creation of a commercial subsidiary in France, made possible by the acquisition of For Food France, is a key strategic step for DalterFood Group, further confirming our desire to consolidate and strengthen our presence in major European markets.”
DalterFood effectively operates in Germany through its subsidiary Vip-Italia and has a presence in the UK via Dalter. Furthermore, the company holds a stake in the Brazilian firm producing Italian cheeses and cured meats, CMC. Guidi also mentioned the group achieved a remarkable turnover of €200 million ($232.1 million) last year.
France plays a significant role in the food and drink consumer trends, having imported approximately 144,000 tonnes of Italian cheeses in 2024, making it the second-largest market after Italy. This positions DalterFood favorably for growth opportunities.
Mauro Zuliani, the founder of For Food France, will continue as a partner post-acquisition and manage the local subsidiary. His extensive experience and market knowledge will ensure continuity for customers and effectively capture opportunities presented by the French market.
Zuliani noted, “Being part of a solid and structured group, with a strong focus on product quality and a consultative approach to customers, will allow us to offer an even broader product portfolio.” This statement underscores the growing synergies within the group that will contribute to success in the competitive food and drink business.
DalterFood operates two cutting and cheese packaging plants in Italy through Dalter Alimentari in Sant’Ilario d’Enza, along with dairies managed by Colline di Canossa in Selvapiana and Cigarello. This operational infrastructure enhances its capability to meet rising demand in the evolving food and beverage industry landscape.
