Croatian baked goods manufacturer Mlinar is committing to the enhancement of its local facility that specializes in savoury burek pastries.

This investment was announced in a recent statement from Bosqar Invest, which became the majority owner of the bakery last year.

Mlinar is allocating €12 million ($13.7 million) towards its Osijek plant, a move set to double the output at this location by incorporating a fully automated production line.

The capacity of this new line will be equivalent to that of the four existing production lines currently operating within the factory, as noted by the Croatian investment firm.

The initiative is characterized as one of Mlinar’s “largest single investments in production capacity in recent years.”

As outlined in the statement, this project aims to “further improve production efficiency, supply chain flexibility, and readiness for continued growth” in both present and prospective markets.

“It will also create the conditions for stronger export growth in international markets beyond the region where Mlinar already has an established sales presence.”

At the Osijek facility, the company has increased its workforce by over 230 jobs since 2021/2022.

“This investment is a natural continuation of our growth and a response to the sustained increase in demand for products in the burek category,” remarked Mladen Veber, Mlinar’s management board president.

This development follows the acquisition of financing in December, when Mlinar secured up to €50 million in equity funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), designated for further expansion.

Mlinar caters to major retail chains, hospitality businesses, and the foodservice sector while exporting to more than 17 different markets.

The company operates five production facilities and maintains a bakery retail network across Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In 2025, the group reported revenues exceeding €197.2 million, according to the provided statement.

Bosqar Invest completed its acquisition of a majority stake in Mlinar for around €100 million. Under this arrangement, Bosqar, alongside other stakeholders from Panvita Group and Mlinar’s management team, led by CEO Mladen Veber, secured a 67% indirect stake in the bakery company.
