Boettger Gruppe completes acquisition of Jahnke in German confectionery agreement confectionery Food and Beverage Business Boettger Gruppe

Boettger Gruppe, a German confectioner, recently acquired local confectioner Jahnke Süßwaren as part of an undisclosed deal. The acquisition will allow Boettger to expand its hard candy portfolio with the addition of liquorice and increase its production capacity with the second facility near its Kaltenkirchen site.

In a strategic move, Alexander Mock, managing partner of Boettger, stated, “Having already worked successfully with Jahnke, this acquisition is a logical next step in expanding our production capacities and making us more flexible.” Similarly, Frank Gemmrig, Cavendish & Harvey managing director, added, “The acquisition of Jahnke is strategically important for us in two ways.” He further emphasized the significance of adding the liquorice specialities of Jahnke to their existing range and the advantage of finding a production facility close to their site, increasing flexibility and capacity.

Boettger currently employs 160 people at its Kaltenkirchen facility, predominantly manufacturing Cavendish & Harvey products – a brand owned by Boettger since 2002. Additionally, the company also owns Berlin-based Boettger Food Ingredients, a supplier of granulated and liquid sugar as well as nuts and dried fruit to the confectionery, beverage, and food industries. Meanwhile, Hamburg-based Ragolds Invest, which previously owned Jahnke, owns other confectionery products, including some brands linked to popular films and TV programmes such as Minions, Peppa Pig, and Paw Patrol.

Boettger’s acquisition of Jahnke will create synergies and enable both sites to utilize resources more effectively, promote innovation, and contribute to the future economic development of the region.
Recent developments in the food and beverage industry trends and consumer trends indicate that collaborations and acquisitions are key strategic moves to increase production capacity and market reach. This acquisition is an example of such a move.
