Vault City Brewing Creates Deep-Fried Mars Bar Flavoured Beer
Vault City Brewing, the UK’s best-selling sour beer producer, has paid tribute to the iconic Scottish snack, the deep-fried Mars bar, with a new imperial stout, DDF M*RS BAR. The beer has an ABV of 15.5% and combines the nostalgic taste of chocolate malt and cacao nibs with a real battered Mars bar, giving it an authentic deep-fried taste.
The brewery worked with Neon Raptor Brewing Co. to produce the beer. The deep-fried Mars bar is a well-known Scottish delicacy that originated at The Haven Chip Bar in Stonehaven. Vault City Brewing’s co-founder, Steven Smith-Hay, said that “…Deep-fried Mars bars are as synonymous with Scottish culture as haggis or Irn Bru, so we thought why not bring this national treasure to life in a beer?”

Earlier this year, the brewery launched its first-ever core range which spread across 200 independent bars, pubs, and taprooms in the UK. It is now available in over 600 Tesco stores nationwide and has become the supermarket giant’s best-selling craft beer.
In January, Vault City Brewing released an Iron Brew flavoured beer that sold over 10,000 cans in under 24 hours. Every two weeks, the Portobello-based brewery releases new flavours, and this month is no exception. May’s Sour Sunday release features DDF M*RS BAR, Raspberry Rocky Road, Tonka White Forest Gateau, and Strawberry Sundae.
