The humorous plant-based functional drink company G Spot, co-founded by the renowned actress Gillian Anderson, has achieved a significant milestone in its 20-month journey. The brand has secured its first supermarket listing with Sainsbury’s, marking a pivotal moment in its growth.
Starting in January, shoppers across the UK will find G Spot’s sparkling canned beverages in over 300 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide, as well as online. This availability signals the brand’s commitment to making its functional, health-focused drinks easily accessible to consumers.
The product lineup consists of three SKUs: Lift, Soothe, and Protect, all designed to meet the increasing consumer demand for functional beverages that don’t compromise on flavor. Each drink is carefully crafted to provide a unique experience while supporting overall wellness.
Customers can purchase all three SKUs in single 250ml cans for £2, located in the chilled section at the front of the stores. Additionally, from January 26, Lift and Soothe will be available in 4x250ml multipacks priced at £6.50, found in the ambient soft drinks section at the back of the stores. As a special New Year’s promotion for Nectar Card users, the G Spot single cans will be offered at £1.40 until January 25th.

Anderson co-founded G Spot in pursuit of a tasty yet healthier alternative to the high-sugar, caffeinated drinks she used to consume, such as Coca-Cola. Made in the UK, the beverages are caffeine-free, low in calories, and contain no artificial sweeteners. The three SKUs available at Sainsbury’s include:

The launch of G Spot in Sainsbury’s follows significant investment from Dutch brewing giant Heineken, as well as the brand’s recent expansion into the US market in October. This move comes at an opportune time, as the functional beverage market in the US has grown 54%, reaching $9.2 billion between March 2020 and March 2024, according to NielsenIQ.
This rapid growth in functional drinks has prompted major retailers, including Walmart, to introduce a brand new category for ‘better for you’ beverages.
