Located at Mayfield Parade on Albert Royds Street, the newly opened Spar store is owned by the Uppal family, esteemed retailers from Greater Manchester and Cheshire. This marks their sixth store in the region.

To commemorate the official opening, the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, councillors Mike and Margaret Holly, were present to cut the ribbon alongside the Uppals themselves.

To celebrate the grand opening, customers were invited to enjoy free product tastings, including a variety of mouth-watering curries from Fazilas’ range, which is now stocked in the store. Additionally, the first 50 customers received a bag filled with complimentary products.

Making the opening even sweeter, patrons had the chance to spin the Spar wheel for a chance to win free sweets. Children were also treated to a face painter and had the opportunity to take photos with the lovable mascots SPARtan and SPARkle.

The store boasts a range of features, including a Cheeky Coffee unit, Tango Ice Blast machine, and a hot Food To Go counter. These offerings, alongside an extensive selection of grocery and fresh convenience products, cater to the diverse needs of residents in the area.

Outside the store, ample parking is available for customers, and there are plans to install an ATM in the near future.

The store takes pride in its commitment to the local community, as evidenced by the employment of 15 individuals from the area. Furthermore, the store supports Rochdale Football Club’s Dale v Hunger foodbank, with the club’s mascot Desmond the Dragon making an appearance at the launch to further strengthen community ties.

Expressing his excitement about the new store, Paul Uppal stated, “We are thrilled to bring our excellent convenience retail offer to Rochdale with the opening of our sixth Spar store. The warm reception from the local community on our launch day was truly heartening.” He also extended his gratitude to the team at James Hall & Co, who service all of their Spar stores, for their invaluable support.

Local resident Samaya Bilbas shared her impression of the store, stating, “I’m highly impressed with the store; it offers a great range of competitively priced products, making it an ideal destination for everyday essentials. If it continues to be affordable, people will flock to shop here.”

Mayor of Rochdale, councillor Mike Holly, expressed his pleasure at being invited to the Spar store launch, emphasizing, “The new store is visually stunning, effectively utilizing a previously vacant unit. Furthermore, it has created employment opportunities for locals, making it doubly great news for the community.”

In conclusion, the opening of the Spar store in Rochdale marks an exciting venture for the Uppal family, who have poured their efforts into delivering an exceptional retail experience. The overwhelming positive response from the community has laid a strong foundation for future success. With its competitive pricing, extensive range, and commitment to the local community, the Spar store in Rochdale is set to become a beloved shopping destination.
