The Famous Grouse has recently introduced a new permanent addition to its lineup – The Famous Grouse Sherry Cask Finish. This premium blend is now available in the UK and offers a rich and flavorful experience, enhanced by a period of maturation in ex-sherry casks.
First launched exclusively at Morrisons this month, The Famous Grouse Sherry Cask Finish will be widely available in major retailers starting September, with a suggested retail price of £22.00. Master Blender, Marc Watson, carefully selected Speyside malts for a second maturation in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, resulting in a blend that showcases rich, warming, and spiced characteristics.
Watson explains, “This new blend is finished in sherry casks seasoned in the region of Jerez, Spain, aiming to create a slightly sweeter profile while maintaining the smooth and distinct qualities of classic Grouse.” The blend is further enhanced by marrying the hand-selected malt and grain whiskies in ex-sherry casks to bring out sweet, rich, and smooth flavors such as chocolate, almonds, dried fruits, and sweet spices.
The Famous Grouse Sherry Cask Finish is crafted with a sweeter balance and smooth texture, perfect for mixing cocktails. In line with the brand’s ‘Full of Character’ global campaign, this release is designed to appeal to a new generation of whisky enthusiasts and highlight the drink’s mixability.
As demand for sherry cask whiskies continues to rise, “The Sherry Cask Spritz” presents a seasonal serve option, combining The Famous Grouse Sherry Cask Finish with lemon juice, vanilla syrup, sparkling wine, and ice. Joakim Leijon, global brand director for “The Famous Grouse,” notes the brand’s strong position in the UK market and sees the new Sherry Cask Finish as a way to expand consumer preferences and introduce new drinkers to the brand.
The packaging of the Sherry Cask Finish features the Spanish female Capercaillie, symbolizing the product’s Spanish sherry heritage. In addition to its ongoing support for RSPB Scotland, The Famous Grouse plans to contribute to habitat protection projects focusing on the Capercaillie.
