Grubby and Zoe Team Up for Gut-Friendly Recipes

Plant-based meal delivery service Grubby has teamed up with the gut-health innovation company Zoe to unveil a special edition lineup of plant-forward meals aimed at enhancing gut health and encouraging greater food variety throughout the UK.

From June 25 to July 8, Grubby subscribers can select from a thoughtfully curated array of fibre-rich, diversified plant meals that have been reviewed and endorsed by Dr. Federica Amati, the head nutritionist at Zoe, as well as the team of nutrition scientists at Zoe. Each meal has been evaluated according to Zoe’s nutritional guidelines and proudly bears a Zoe-approved label, featured on grubby.co.uk and in all associated promotional content.

This initiative coincides with the release of Dr. Amati’s latest publication, The Appetite Reset: How to Eat, Drink and Thrive Before, During and After GLP-1s. The collaboration merges Grubby’s chef-crafted, internationally influenced flavors with Zoe’s leading-edge nutritional research. The campaign encompasses co-branded packaging, email marketing, social media promotion, and public relations outreach.

The first 1,250 boxes of meal kits will also come with a trial sample of Zoe’s Daily30, a whole-plant supplement designed to enhance fibre and plant diversity intake. Each serving provides 4g of fibre and consists of over 30 different plant ingredients, including vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, berries, mushrooms, and seaweed. Clinical trials have demonstrated that Daily30 benefits gut health, enhances digestion, and boosts energy levels.

According to Dr. Amati’s insights in The Appetite Reset, nurturing the gut microbiome is a more effective strategy to manage appetite and promote metabolic health than merely restricting food intake. This strategy revolves around the principles of fibre, plant diversity, and high-quality proteins.

“The science has never posed a challenge,” Dr. Amati remarks. “The real issue has been making those nourishing foods enticing and easy to consume week after week. This is where Grubby and Daily30 excel, delivering delicious meals with varied textures and wholesome ingredients.”

Findings from Zoe’s research, which includes data from over 300,000 participants, indicate that consuming 30 different plants weekly significantly improves gut microbiome health. Despite this, only 5% of UK adults meet the daily recommended intake of 30g of fibre, with the average intake being just 19g.

A single Zoe-approved meal from Grubby can deliver up to 23g of fibre, with highlighted options like the Hearty Chilli Bean Sweet Potato Stew featuring 11 plant points, and the Crispy Curried Mango Chickpea Traybake boasting 13.5 plant points.

Martin Holden-White, founder of Grubby, emphasizes that this partnership merges culinary artistry with scientific research to empower consumers:

“Collaborating with Zoe, along with Professor Tim Spector and Dr. Amati, has allowed us to infuse meaning into our meals—offering flavorful, nutrient-dense options backed by cutting-edge gut health research.”

Dr. Amati further notes: “What I appreciate about Grubby is their commitment to flavor, allowing nutrition to serve as a clever added benefit. This approach is the most effective way to encourage more individuals to consume plants more frequently.”

Over the span of two weeks, the collaboration presents a collection featuring eight meal kits and three ready-to-eat meals, each offering at least 14g of fibre, 7+ plant points, and ample whole-food protein.
