The transaction was expertly handled by WT Estates, a Taunton-based company with expertise in the petrol forecourt, retail convenience, and leisure sectors. William Trott, the managing director of WT Estates, shared that there is considerable interest from buyers across the southwest for similar businesses. The market for consistent trading convenience stores and petrol forecourts remains steadfastly buoyant, he stated.
The Falmouth business purchased by the Jinks family back in 1967 originally started as an ice cream parlour and dairy. Over the years, they developed it into a Spar store and subsequently sold it to their son, Stephen, and his wife, Janette, 25 years ago. In 2019, the family expanded their operations with the acquisition of a second Spar store in nearby Stithians, which they continue to run to this day.
