Aldi Scotland, now commanding a higher volume market share than Co-op (7.2%), Sainsbury’s (7.6%), Lidl (8.9%), and Morrisons (8.8%) in Scotland, is positioned behind only Asda (13.8%) and Tesco (24%). These findings, provided by research body Kantar, reflect the volume market share over a 12-week period until 14 May.

Adding to their accolades, Aldi was recently named the Scottish Sourcing Business of the Year at the Scotland Food and Drink Awards 2022. Impressively, 25% of Aldi’s sales in Scotland are from locally sourced products.

Aldi’s remarkable volume market share achievement coincides with their upcoming participation in the Royal Highland Show 2023.

Expressing his enthusiasm for this milestone, Graham Nicolson, Aldi Scotland’s group buying director, stated, “This marks a momentous occasion for Aldi in Scotland, as we continuously strengthen our presence in the Scottish market. Our commitment lies in providing our customers with top-quality products at affordable prices, and the data undeniably highlights the increasing number of individuals who are making the switch to Aldi for their shopping needs.”

Nicolson also emphasized the strong relationship the company has developed with Scottish suppliers, offering customers the opportunity to purchase locally sourced, high-quality products and contribute to the support of Scottish businesses.
